#1 Cochran was founded in 1965 when Bob Cochran opened his first Pontiac store in North Braddock, PA. Over the next two decades, he continued to grow the business, adding more stores and OEM brands. By 1989, Cochran Pontiac was #1 in Pontiac Retail Sales in the world.
In 1991, Rob Cochran was named President and CEO of the company. After Bob Cochran passed away in 1993, Rob carried on his father's legacy and ushered in an era of unprecedented growth that continued through the 2000s, 2010s and 2020s. Rob’s robust leadership has resulted in our current lineup of 20 new car brands, more than 38 new-vehicle franchises and an expansion into Ohio in 2023.
Rob Cochran has also been at the forefront of many groundbreaking, customer-centric initiatives that have altered the landscape of automotive retail in our region and beyond. This includes Clearly Better Car Buying, our transparent, hassle-free way of doing business. He also drove the development of #1 Cochran ExpressWay, our online buying platform.
Today, #1 Cochran is leading the charge to integrate electric vehicles alongside our gas-powered and hybrid options. Sustainability is at the core of everything we do so our customers can enjoy affordable, efficient and clean transportation for generations to come.
